Press Release: Roundtable Meeting on ‘Investing in Maharashtra’

Embassy of India, Beijing, in association with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, organized a Roundtable Meeting on ‘Investing in Maharashtra’ on 25th April 2014.

The meeting was the inaugural activity under the “Glimpses of India” Festival being held across cities in China this year to mark the India-China Year of Friendly Exchanges.

A delegation from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) led by Mr. Sunil Porwal, Principal Secretary, Government of Maharashtra participated in the meeting.

Ambassador Ashok K. Kantha addressed the participants in his keynote remarks and called for enhancing investment flows building on the natural synergies and complementarities between the two economies. Vice President of CCCME, Mr. Wang Xusheng, referred to the rapid growth in bilateral economic engagement and the potential for enhanced investment linkages.

Detailed presentations by the Maharashtra delegation highlighted the specific investment opportunities available in the State of Maharashtra and invited Chinese companies to take advantage of the business incentives being offered by the State of Maharashtra to invest there.

Close to 80 participants drawn from various manufacturing sectors attended the meeting.
