Submission of GEP Application

General Instructions

NRI applicants are requested to apply for GEP enrolment on GOES portal of USA C.B.P. After initial processing in USA, apply on Mission PSP portal for “Background Verification for GEP” service on https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/  , a web file no. is generated. The completed application may be printed and submitted at the Embassy on any working day between 09.00 to 11.00 hours and at the Consulates on any working day between 09.30 to 12.00 hours along with other required documents.

Procedure for application:

  1. Application form: Indian Citizens are required to apply for “Background Verification for GEP” service on https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/ and submit the printout at the Embassy/Consuates.
  2. Current passport (original) along with photocopies of first page, last page and the valid Resident Permit/Visa page.
  3. Employer certificate (latest in English) mentioning the passport No and present residential address. or
  4. Letter from the college/university (latest in English), mentioning passport No, present residential address and duration of course - for student only
  5. Two recent color passport size photographs (Recent 5cm*5cm, front pose, full face photograph where the ears are visible with white backdrop).
