General Instructions before filling online application

  1. Applicant should be a resident of the area under the consular jurisdiction of EOI, Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou (As per consular jurisdiction)
  2. Documents submitted for attestation to the Consular Section of Embassy of India, Beijing/ CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhouwill be given only a 'Seen in the Embassy/Consulate not responsible for the contents' stamp.
  3. The documents originated under area of jurisdiction of EoI Beijing/Consulates) in China will be attested only after its authentication by Legalization Department of Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, China or Consular Departments of Foreign Affairs Offices in every province.
  4. Indian documents for attestation (Marriage/ Birth/Death, education etc.) must be authenticated/attested by MEA, Patiala House, New Delhi/Branch Secretariats/RPOs as per the detail given at https://www.mea.gov.in/apostille.htm. Name of the applicant and his/her parent’s name in the marriage/birth certificate should be as per his/her passport
  5. The documents issued in foreign countries (Other than India and China) must be authenticated by Indian Mission/Post of that country before attestation by EoI Beijing/Consulates
  6. For attestation of documents of passport holders of other countries, which originated in China, document should be attested by the respective country’s Embassy/Consulate in China after attestation by MFA China, before its submission to Indian Embassy/Consulate for attestation.
  7. All original documents (including passport) are to be submitted for verification and will be returned thereafter.

Online Application Process (N/A for Consulates)

Application process has been made online for attestation of documents namely, Educational, Trade/Commercial, Affidavits, Birth Certificate (self), Civil Documents, Power of Attorney, Gift Documents, Marriage Certificate, Mortgage Documents, Purchase Documents, Sale Documents, True copy of Attestation, etc. with effect from 6th July 2020.

2.To avail online application process for the above-mentioned Consular Services, an applicant should visit the website: https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in and follow the steps as suggested at the site. It may be noted that the online application process involves registration of the applicant as a first step by sign-up at the site and creating user ID and password for log-in to fill up the application for requisite Consular Service. The website would guide the applicant for each step after accessing it and then the applicant can navigate accordingly to fulfil the requirements of filling up the application, uploading the documents and submitting the same online.

3.This website will open in Firefox internet browser and hence applicants are requested to use the same for accessing the site. After the submission of the online application form along with uploading the documents and online clearance by the Embassy, the applicant should visit the embassy with a print out of the online provisional fee voucher generated and original documents for attestation by the Embassy.
