Andhra Pradesh was once a major center of Buddhism. Its capital Hyderabad, rose into prominence in the 17th century, having been established by the fourth Qutb Shahi ruler, who named it after his queen, Hyder Mahal. Hyderabad is famous for its historical architecture, pearls and IT companies, besides the beautiful Hussain Sagar Lake.

Other parts of Andhra Pradesh are equally charming and culturally rich. To name a few, Warangal city near Hyderabad has the thousand pillar temple that is over 800 years old; Nagarjunakonda and Amaravati are finest Buddhist centers of the ancient world; the coastal town of Machilipatnam is famous for hand painted textiles called Kalamkari; the beautiful coast line and beaches of the modern city of Vishakhapatnam; all these wonders, and more, await you in the South Indian State of Andhra Pradesh!
