AMBASSADOR’S REMARKS AT THE CULTURAL EVENING TO MARK INDIA DAY AT CHINA-EURASIA EXPO ON 3RD SEPTEMBER 2013

I am very pleased to join you today for an evening of Indian dance and music.

The deep-rooted links between Xinjiang and India are anchored in a long history of cultural and commercial engagement that traversed the silk route. It today finds expression in the natural affinity and deep friendship that marks our people-to-people contacts.

I am therefore particularly pleased that during this visit, we are again able to bring to the fore these two salient aspects of our engagement through the cultural performance today evening and through our participation in the 3rd China-Eurasia Expo from 2-7th September.

I hope you will enjoy the evening as much as the Culture Wing of the Indian Embassy has have enjoyed putting it together for you.

I would like to conclude by acknowledging the support of the Xinjiang Department of Culture towards making the event possible.
