The inaugurationceremony for the training in heavy-haul technology for the first batch ofofficers from the Indian Railway was held at Beijing Jiaotong University onDecember 15, 2014. Twenty two officers from India are participating in thistraining programme. Mr. Ning Bin, President of Beijing Jiatong University, Mr.Zheng Jian Deputy Administrator, National Railway Administration of China andAmbassador Ashok K. Kantha, India’s Ambassador to China were present at theinauguration.

The 12-daytraining programme , which is being conducted by Beijing JiaotongUniversity under the supervision of National Railway Administration of China,is the first step in the cooperation envisaged by India and China in the Memorandum of Understanding andImplementation Plan on Cooperation in Railways. The training will lay emphasison onsite training covering operational and maintenance facilities, monitoringsystems and traffic controls. Four more batches from Indian railway officialswill be trained at Beijing Jiatong University in heavy-haul technology in thenext two years.
