Press Release: Roundtable Discussion on The State of Literary Exchange between India and China.

1. Embassy of India, Beijing in association with Sahitya Akademi, National Book Trust of India, China Writers Association, and State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Films and Television organized a Roundtable Discussion on the State of Literary Exchanges between India and China on 27th August 2015 at the Embassy.

2. Participants included a 20 member delegation of Indian publishers led by Chairman, National Book Trust, Mr. Baldeo Bhai Sharma, a six member delegation of Indian writers from Sahitya Akademi led by Secretary Dr. K Sreenivasrao, a six member delegation of Chinese writers led Member of Secretariat of China Writers Association Mr. Bai Gengsheng and 10 renowned Chinese publishers; besides representatives of Indian and Chinese media.

3. The roundtable served as a good platform for Indian and Chinese writers and publishers to exchange views on literary exchange between the two countries. Topics that were discussed included translation projects, copyright-related agreements and ways to increase literary exchange between India and China

4. Earlier on 26th August Chairman National Book Trust had a meeting with Vice-Minister of SAPPRFT Mr. Sun Shoushan. It may be recalled that an MoU between NBT and SAPPRFT was signed in September 2014 by which China will be the guest country for the next year’s New Delhi Book Fair.
