Press Release: Highlights of Indian Budget 2016-17 Presentation-cum-Panel Discussion

Embassy of India,Beijing organized a presentation-cum-paneldiscussion on Highlights of Indian Budget 2016-17 in Beijing on 8th March,2016.

While giving a generaloverview of this year’s budget, Ambassador Vijay Gokhale emphasized thepriority given by the Indian Government in facilitating business and investmentin India and the new measures taken for ease of doing business in India. Ambassadorhighlighted infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial parks and corridors,railways, renewable energy, urban infrastructure and smart city initiatives askey areas where India and China could work together to boost bilateral tradeand economic engagement.

Mr Rohan Solapurkarfrom Deloitte Management Services gave a detailed analysis of the Indian Budget2016-17. He also gave a detailed insight into India’s investment framework andthe comparative advantage for Chinese investors.

Mr James Zhan, President, Tata Sons, China; MsLi Jingjing, Vice President, SANY Group; and Mr Hong Qing, CEO, ICBC Mumbaibranch joined for the panel discussion. The panelists shared their experienceof working in India and their vision for investment and growth in the Indian market.

SANY Group reiteratedtheir commitment to Make in India and localize to match India’s need forequipment and infrastructure, especially in clean energy, transportation andmanufacturing. ICBC emphasized that itis the ‘right place and right time’for investors to enter India and there is huge potential for cooperation between India’s large market and Chinesecapacity in terms of capital, technology and experience.

Around 80representatives from Chinese companies and industry chambers/associations,Ministry of Finance, NDRC, research institutions and banks attended theSeminar.
