Embassy of India, Beijing, organized an event celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the School of Foreign Languages,Peking University on 14th April, 2016.

Ambassador Vijay Gokhale attended the event and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he highlighted Dr.Ambedkar's fight for social justice, his belief in fighting for social justice

through legal and constitutional means and adoption of 'non-violence' to attain his goal. He also emphasized that these principles of Dr. Ambedkar have been enshrined in the constitution of India and upheld by successive governments inIndia. Dean, School for Foreign Languages, Ms. Qi Ning also addressed the gathering and highlighted Dr. Ambedkar's outstanding contribution to world civilization.

Professor Qiu Yonghui from the ChineseAcademy of Social Sciences (CASS) delivered a lecture on the life and work ofDr. Ambedkar with a special focus on social justice. This was followed by the screening of a documentary on the life of Dr. Ambedkar. This event was attended by more than 100 students and teachers of Peking University.
