ASSOCHAM is organizing 9th edition of International FAD (Food Processing, Agribusiness & Dairy) SUMMIT cum AWARDS: Invest India 2 Make in India, from 12th to 13th August - 2016 at Hotel Pride Plaza, Ahmedabad.

The objective of the summit is to promote food processing sector of the India by bringing investments to this sector. Given the importance of the summit we have invited Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Food Processing Industry, Govt. of India to inaugurate the Summit. The Summit will mark the presence of States like Gujarat, Haryana, MP, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana etc. and international Countries like, Netherlands, UAE, USA, Australia etc., investors, policy makers, industry leaders, trade bodies & associations food technologists, food safety experts to share their knowledge in this area. The unique recipe of the event is to organize eye 2 eye, B2B and B2G meetings on request, to facilitate dialogue for business/investment in India.

The purpose of organizing pre-planned eye 2 eye, B2B & B2G meetings on the sidelines of the event is to bring the investment in food processing sector through potential investors. The Summit will also provide an excellent platform for state to showcase its Initiatives. Eye 2 eye, B2B & B2G meetings organized during the summit will not only attract international and national investors in food processing sector but also will encourage investment tie-ups in food processing sector in the state by signing MoUs.

The Indian food and grocery market is the world’s sixth largest, with retail contributing 70 per cent of the sales. Food has also been one of the largest segments in India's retail sector, which was valued at USD 490 billion in 2013@. The Indian food retail market is expected to reach Rs 61 lakh crore (US$ 894.98 billion) by 2020. There is an opportunity for large investments in food and food processing technologies, skills and infrastructure, especially in areas of canning, dairy packaging, frozen food / refrigeration and thermo processing. India is the world's second largest producer of food next to China and has the potential of being the biggest, backed by its food and agricultural sector. Union Budget 2016-17 has proposed 100 per cent FDI through FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) route in marketing of food products produced and manufactured in India.
