Visit of Shri Shaktikanta Das, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs to Beijing (17-19 August 2016)
Secretary,Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India visited Beijing to co-chair the 8th India-China Financial Dialogue and participate in other key meetings.(see pics below)
During the course of his visit Shri Das called on H.E. Lou Jiwei, the Chinese Finance Minister and H.E. Li Wei, President of the Development Research Center of the State Council on August 18, 2016. On August 17, 2016 Shri Das met with Mr JinLiqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Dr. D J Pandian, the Vice-President of AIIB and discussed opportunities for financing of infrastructure projects in India. Shri Das also met with Chinese investors with an interest in the Indian market. He also visited the North Canal water-treatment plant in Tongzhou district of Beijing.
On August 19, Shri Shaktikanta Das co-chaired the 8th India-China Financial Dialogue with his counterpart from the Chinese Ministry of Finance,Vice-Minister Shi Yaobin. The two sides exchanged views inter alia on macroeconomic situation of China and India in global context. The two sides discussed recent developments in India and China, including the macroeconomic policies and structural reforms, including fiscal and monetary reform measures and major taxation reforms such as the implementation of GST in India and VAT in China.Issues related to bilateral financial investment cooperation and investment financing in industrial parks and infrastructure cooperation were also discussed.
They also discussed India-China cooperation under the multilateral and bilateral frameworks, especially with reference to the forthcoming G20 Summit in China and BRICS Summit in India this year.
The 8th India-China Financial Dialogue concluded with the signing and exchange of a Joint Statement by the two co-chairs.
