Press Release: Commemoration of 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Embassy of India, Beijing

On 31 October 2016, to mark the 141st birth anniversary of the eminent Indian statesman Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Embassy of India, Beijing organized an exhibition of historical photographs on Sardar Patel followed by the screening of a movie “Sardar” depicting the Iron Man of India’s life in detail.

The exhibition of historical photographs showcased the important role Sardar Patel played in India’s struggle for freedom and in nation-building in the early years of Independence. The photos offered a rare glimpse into many key moments such as the Bardoli Satyagraha and the Arzi Hukumat campaign.

The movie “Sardar” portrayed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s indispensable contribution to the making of modern India, particularly during the many crucial moments in the lead-up to the achievement of Independence and the integration of the princely states.

The exhibition and movie screening were attended by over 100 persons of all ages, with an enthusiastic response from the Indian community in Beijing.
