2nd International Conference of Indologists-2016 held at Shenzhen from 11-13 Nov, '16 

The 2nd International Conference of Indologists-2016 was successfully held at Shenzhen from 11-13 November (The first edition of the Conference was held in November 2015 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi). The Conference saw participation of more than 75 Indologists from world over including China, Germany, Thailand, Chile and India. The Indologists presented research papers in five broad areas namely: Indological Studies in China, Indological Studies all over the World, Buddhist Culture and World Culture, Indology and Indo-China Cultural Exchanges and Indian Literature and Grammar.

The Conference was co-hosted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR); Embassy of India, Beijing, The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC); China-India Friendship Association; and Shenzhen University.

The Opening Ceremony of the Conference held on 12 Noveber began with a keynote address by Prof. Lokesh Chandra, President of ICCR, and was followed by speeches of Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of CPAFFC; Mr. Vijay Gokhale, Ambassador of India; Ven. Guangquan, Director of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy; and Prof. Liu Hongyi, Secretary of CPC Committee of Shenzhen University.

More than 150 scholars, officials and students form India, China and abroad attended the Conference. Mr. Y.K. Sailas Thangal, CG, Guangzhou gave the Vote of Thanks at the valedictory session on 13 November.

The Conference was co-sponsored by Centre for Indian Studies, Peking University; Hangzhou Buddhist Academy; Consulate General of India, Guangzhou; and Centre for Indian Studies, Shenzhen University.
