Press Release: Invest in India Seminar in Dalian

The Embassy of India in collaboration with CCPIT Dalian Sub-Council organized an Invest in India Seminar in Dalian on 28 February, 2017. This seminar is in continuation of a series of such investment promotion events organised by the Embassy across China.

The seminar received an overwhelming response with more than 250 Chinese investors and enterprises attending. The excellent response to these events is reflective of the growing interest among Chinese enterprises to invest in India.

The main speakers at the seminar were Mr. Prashant Lokhande, Counsellor (Economic), Mr. Karthik Iyer, Second Secretary ( T&C), Mr. Enwright Desales, Partner, Deloitte and Mr. Santosh Pai, Partner, Link Legal.

A detailed presentation on investment scenario in india was made by Mr. Lokhande. Mr. Karthik gave a focused presentation on Make in India. Matters related to tax were dealt with by Mr. Enwright in his presentation. Mr. Santosh Pai's presentation addressed the legal aspects of investing in India and focused on entry strategies for specific sectors such as ship building, auto components, etc. Ms. Li Jingjing, Vice President, Sany Group shared her experiences of investing in India.

These were followed by a Q&A session with Chinese enterprises asking specific questions on areas of interest for investment.

Liaoning is the biggest provincial economy in northeast China with special focus on heavy industries like ship building, petrochemicals and capital goods. Dalian is a major city in Liaoning province with the highest ranked GDP among all the cities of the province. Much of the progress in IT related sectors in the province has also been centred in Dalian.
