142nd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
'National Unity Day'

The Embassy of India in Beijing organized a special commemorative event on 31 October 2017 to mark the 142nd Birth Anniversary of eminent statesman and India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is also observed as “National Unity Day” or ""Rashtriya Ekta Diwas"".

2. The event began with the screening of a short documentary movie showcasing India rich cultural diversity, plurality and unity. It was followed by floral tributes being offered to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by Cd'A Shri Amit Narang. Later, attending participants jointly read out the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge”.

3. At this significant event Cd’A Shri Amit Narang shared his views on the importance of celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day. He extolled the audience to follow the path shown by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in building a united and strong India.

4. A special Photo Exhibition depicting the life and times of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel was also organized on this occasion. The commemorative event saw enthusiastic participation by around 100 people which included members of the Indian community, students as well Mission staff members.
