Tourism roadshow in Chongqing organised by Embassy of India, Beijing with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on November 13, 2019

 

People to people connect is one of important pillars of India China relations, in which tourism plays a crucial role. In this context, Embassy of India, Beijing with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organized a tourism roadshow in Chongqing on November 13, 2019. This roadshow featured fruitful engagement between tour operators from both the sides as well as a seminar on India tourism and major tourist destinations and attractions in India. This event was one of the series of 3 roadshows being organized in Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming from 12-14 November 2019. Indian delegation consisted of 30 Indian tour operators and was led by Ms Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General of Ministry of Tourism Government of India. More than 60 representatives from tourism industry of Chongqing participated in the roadshow.

Delivering his keynote address, Ambassador Vikram Misri recalled the historical linkages between India and China, and highlighted the role of people to people connect. He called on Indian and Chinese tour operators to further this goal by facilitating visits of tourists from each other countries by offering attractive tour packages. Ms Brar made a presentation highlighting various aspects of India tourism. Mr Qin Dingbo, DDG, Bureau of Culture and Tourism Development Chongqing Municipal Government, in his remarks informed that Chongqing attached great importance to India and called on Chinese tour operators to send more tourist to India. 6 free air tickets for India was also awarded to Chinese tour operators in a lucky draw.

Excellent support was extended by Foreign Affairs Office as well as Culture and Tourism Bureau of Chongqing Municipal Government, in organizing the roadshow.

It is hoped that India tourism roadshows will act as a catalyst for more Chinese tourists to choice India as a destination for tourism purpose.
