Notice from CGI Shanghai on Availing Consular Services

 As the City of Shanghai continues to remain sealed and controlled in different degrees by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Consulate General of India, Shanghai will remain inaccessible and will not be in a position to provide consular services in person.

 Considering the above situation, Indian citizens in Eastern China Region may apply at Embassy of India, Beijing for availing urgent consular services. A set of guidelines for applicants seeking consular service at Embassy of India, Beijing is enclosed herewith. Applicants are requested to go through the guidelines before starting the actual application process. In case, if an applicant is not in a position to present the documents in person at the Embassy of India, Beijing they may authorize any representative with a proper authorization letter to pay the fee and get the Consular/Passport Services availed from the Embassy.

Applicants approaching the Embassy of India in Beijing for availing consular services are requested to go through the following procedure:

I. Application Process for attestation at the Embassy of India, Beijing:

1.  Application process for attestation of documents namely, Educational, Trade/Commercial, Affidavits, Birth Certificate (self), Civil Documents, Power of Attorney, Gift Documents, Marriage Certificate, Mortgage Documents, Purchase Documents, Sale Documents, True copy of Attestation, etc. are online.

2.  To avail online application process for the above-mentioned Consular Services, please visit the website: https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.inand follow the step wise process.

3.  The online application process has two steps i) Registration of the applicant by sign-up at the site and creating user ID and password for log-in to fill up the application for requisite Consular Service. ii) Select the identified service and follow the guidance given on the website to submit the requisite information and uploading the mandatory documents.

4.  This website will open in Firefox internet browser and hence applicants are requested to use the same for accessing the site.

5.  After the submission of the online application form along with uploading the documents and the Embassy will convey its clearance to the applicant. The applicant can thereafter visit the Embassy with a print out of the online provisional fee voucher generated and original documents to be attested.

 

II. Passport Services:

1.  In case, any Indian national in the consular jurisdiction of CGI Shanghai needs to avail Passport services at the Embassy of India in Beijing, then the applicant will have to select the Mission as “Beijing” while registering online on the PSP portal.

2.  NRI applicants are requested to fill ONLINE application for re-issue of passport (Renewal/Lost/Damage/Minor). After filling-up the application online (https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/), a web file no. is generated.

3.  The completed application may be printed and submitted at the Embassy on any working day between 09.00 to 11.00 hours along with other required documents.

4.  Applicants may sometimes face difficulty in accessing the online application format due to technical reasons. In such circumstances, it is advisable to try after a while. Applicants are also advised to use computers with latest version software/ operating systems.

5.  Applicants may please note that New Passport booklets are printed in India (Delhi). Applicants are intimated through e-mail/telephone/mobile on arrival of their passports from India. Requested to provide E-mail ID/Contact numbers during submission of ONLINE Application at the Embassy

III. General comments:     

1.  If the applicant is not in a position to present the documents in person at the Embassy of India in Beijing then they can authorize any representative with a proper authorization letter to pay the fee and get the Consular/Passport Services availed from the Embassy.
