Press Release: Ambassador’s visit to office of China Radio International

Ambassador Ashok K. Kantha visited the office of China Radio International (CRI) on 28th September. The officials of CRI briefed Ambassador about its functioning and showed Ambassador around their offices. Ambassador also met with the President of CRI Mr. Wang Gengnian.

In his meeting with Mr. Wang Gengnian, Ambassador commended CRI for reaching out to the listeners of the world through their broadcast in 65 languages, including Indian languages. Ambassador added that cultural exchanges form an important part of India-China relations and that the leaders of two countries are keen to expand people to people contacts. He said that we are willing to expand cooperation with CRI in areas such as exchange of program content, social media and training of personnel. Ambassador invited President Wang to visit India at an early date to explore specific areas of cooperation.

President Wang Gengnian briefed Ambassador about CRI, mentioning that Hindi and Tamil service form an important aspect of their work. President Wang talked about ancient linkages between India and China and said that CRI is willing to expand cooperation with counterparts in India.
